What a find!!!
My wife and I have engaged Brendan twice; first with help in decluttering prior to an interstate move, secondly for help in organizing after our move.
Brendan is uniquely gifted to be able to pat you on the back in support as he kicks you in the tail to get you moving.

Brenden & Heidi showed up on moving day and put away all my kitchen stuff. They got the job done while I was worn out from the move earlier in the day. A week later they returned to help me completely organize my garage, including shelf assembly. Throughout the process they were helpful by encouraging me to donate or dispose of items I no longer need, which I don't do well on my own. AND they hauled all of those items away. Very helpful people.

"It's not like on TV." was the phrase that put us at ease. When we called Brenden to inquire about the process of making our home more livable we feared the "one-day tornado trauma" as seen on TV's "Clean Sweep." During the free visit/estimate Brenden gave us several suggestions, explained the organizing process, and was excited about the possibilities in our home. We have hired him for on-going help. We schedule his assistance for 2 hours every few weeks and have "assignments" to complete in the interim. We are pleased with the process and are feeling great about our home again.

I wanted to thank you for all your help organizing and supporting my recent move from Fox Point. You went beyond the call of duty in helping during the hectic packing up and clearing out days before the move. I appreciate the advice and “how to” suggestions that you made and your knowledge of resources for donation of various types of household goods and equipment to organizations that are in need of specific items. Your efficient organization added greatly to the ease of my move. While I hope never to move again, or at least not to move for a few years during which time I acquire absolutely nothing, if I do move, I will certainly call upon you. Thanks.

Brenden is a credentialed organizer. He was personable. He toted stuff to the garage for me. He was very helpful, very nice and has a good personality. He offered to take a window air conditioner to the Salvation Army for me. I would use him again.

Brenden has helped me organize several rooms in my house (including weeding out items, shredding documents, installing shelves, etc.). He picks up whatever items needed to help organize (saving me the hassle of going out and getting it) and removes any items that are to be donated. Excellent....Brenden takes the stress out of the whole experience. I love the fact that he'll do all the shopping for any organizational items and that he'll take unwanted items to Goodwill!!!

My friends know Brenden as my "butler". :) This is my second time using him. It's true, my life became unbearably cluttered for a second time. The first time I found him was during one of the worst times of my life. I was grieving for my best friend and literally just stopped cleaning or making any attempt to keep my apartment up. It had never been and has not been since so full of trash. My depression had simply taken over. My therapist said it was imperative that I get help cleaning things up. I found Brenden on the internet. He was very kind and helped me get through my initial embarrassment at the state of my studio apartment. I can never thank him enough for his help. It was a big step towards getting out of my depression. My newest endeavor comes after recovery from shoulder surgery. Once again the clutter took over and I couldn't seem to keep up. My butler has once again come to the rescue. Thanks so much for your willingness to help me get things back on track.

Brenden,
An overdue thank you for all you taught me. Without your help I would still be dreading going home at night and avoiding having guests over.
I want you to know that I've continued the process with other drawers and closets. I'm ruthless when it comes to discarding things that I haven't touched in years. I'm putting things away because I know where they go (the formerly unused
label maker has been quite busy). Just being able to sit down and relax without that nagging feeling that I should be cleaning up/putting away/trying to find something is a real joy!
PS:
I'm still going to call you sometime for some audio/video shopping and set-up.

To Whom It May Concern: Our relocation from the Chicago suburbs to
the city or Milwaukee was both expensive and intimidating. We had
one week before we would start our new jobs and beginning our life
in the "real world." Along with bills both new and old, we faced an
unfurnished apartment. Brenden McDaniel, knowing us only as a
relative of a friend and that relative's roommate, went far above
and beyond to help us out. Not only did he supply furniture for our
barren apartment, but he also delivered it to our fourth floor
apartment. The first items he delivered (at least a 15-20 minute
commute from his house) were a small cedar shelving unit and a tall
corner shelving unit. The corner unit was used in his antique
business, but was now available for our use. The second round of
items blew both of us away even more than the first. Brenden, a
professional organizer, was working with a client who was getting
rid of a relatively new IKEA sectional couch and an open shelving
unit/media center. The couch turned out to be everything we had
wanted, but most definitely could not have afforded any time soon.
It is a pull-out couch that is easy to use and has a storage
compartment. To our surprise, there was even a down alternative
mattress pad in the storage compartment for use when the bed is
pulled out! The shelving unit became a media center and the main
focus of our living room. Brenden literally furnished our living
room (which accounts for a great deal of our two bedroom apartment)
for zero cost. Additionally, we did not have to lift a finger to
help move the items in or even to dial a phone. Brenden was
extremely flexible by working around not only our schedules but also
his clients' and the weather to transport the items to us. We can
not express enough how much Brenden has helped us by relieving a
potentially huge financial burden. Equally important, he has helped
to make our move to Milwaukee significantly less stressful and
overwhelming. I was and continue to be amazed that a person who had
never met us would go to such lengths to help us out and to welcome
us in such a heartwarming manner. The generosity Brenden has shown
of his efforts, resources, and time is honorable and sets an example
for those around him. We will be forever grateful and indebted to
Brenden for all that he has done for us. Sincerely,

Brenden was professional, courteous and polite. He
was encouraging as I began the enormous project of organizing my
place; he not only gave me tips about organizing, but he rolled up
his sleeves and worked with me; he started to sort things right away
and the job went much faster than I could have imagined. He was
easygoing and pleasant, and he made the work I had been avoiding
almost enjoyable! I recommend him highly and would certainly use his
services again. I plan to call him to help me with my move in the
next year or two.

Brenden is extremely helpful with organizational
ideas in all areas of our home. He is so easy to work with,
professional, friendly, responsive and prompt. He has even picked up
shelving and other organizing tools and delivered them to our home.
We first met Brenden in April 2008 and to date, he has helped us
organize most of the house one 2-hour visit at a time, over a 2
month period. The best part is that once an area is organized, it
stays that way! The systems he helped us implement really work. We
now recommend him to friends and family and plan to have him return
to help us organize our laundry and storage room.

Brenden is an extremely efficient, experienced
organizer, and he accomplished more sorting/organizing in five hours
than I have accomplished in five years. He quickly sorted through
years of accumulated clothing, separating the clothes into
categories: Donate, Toss, or Keep. He filled five or six huge bags
with clothing and dropped them off at Goodwill after he left my
home. He was very good at quickly ascertaining whether I wanted to
keep or toss a particular item. Brenden also helped me sort through
and box books. I emailed Brenden, and he called me back quickly to
schedule an appointment. He is very flexible and is available at
night and on the weekends. He recommended that instead of doing one
"marathon" organizing session that we break it down into two shorter
sessions, and that was a good idea. Brenden arrived on time and was
friendly and professional. He offered to carry a heavy storm door
down into my basement, although I didn't ask him to do so. He
quickly sized up the clutter in my basement and recommended that we
start with the clothing. I was really amazed at how fast Brenden was
able to get through all of my stuff. I hate cleaning and organizing,
but the job was quite painless. Brenden was a good
conversationalist, and I would guess that he has a background in
psychology because he seemed to intuitively understand how to
motivate me without making me feel embarrassed about my messy
basement. He came back a second time, and the experience was
similar; he is very good at his job. I wish I could afford to hire
him to work for me every week because he is fabulous. I was
skeptical about hiring a professional organizer, but he was very
worth the money.

I plan to organize the whole house. We are working
in the basement first. Brenden comes for 2 hours and we work
together. He charges $55/hr. A big service is that he takes
everything I'm getting rid of away - either to recycle, donate or
throw away. On the first visit Brenden found me cleaning the garage
and he jumped in and helped which made the job go much, much faster.
He is energetic and focused and that helps me to get going, too. He
is experienced and has lots of good ideas.

We had our basement and loft de-cluttered and the
whole house better organized. Brenden is great. Easy going and
accommodating, he is a pleasure to work with. He respects our wishes
with what to keep, yet steps in to suggest what is not really
needed. We will continue to work with Brenden to further our
organizational needs.

Brenden helped me get two big closets in my
bedroom organized. Everything needed to be removed from one of them
to make room for my future husband's things. He took everything out
of the closets and helped me go through everything. He got me to get
rid of clothes, which no one else had been able to do. He showed me
how to organize clothes by types so they would be easy to identify
and keep from wrinkling. He helped me find places for everything. He
is very knowledgeable about anything and gave me all kinds of ideas
for storage and decorating. He explained everything he wanted to do
and showed me how to do it. He took everything I was getting rid of
away so I wouldn't be tempted to change my mind and take stuff back.
Brenden is great. He got me to "part" with bags and bags of
outdated, unflattering, no longer fitting clothing that I had
insisted on keeping for years. He very skillfully made me see why it
didn't make sense to have enormous amounts of not fitting, out dated
clothing or the same type of clothes in the same color or styles
when if you can only wear certain types of things at limited times
like jeans wouldn't I want to pick out all the different styles and
colors and get rid of all the same. He maintains professionalism
while putting you at ease.

Brenden has been working with me on an ongoing
basis to improve the organization in my home. Brenden and I did a
walkthrough of my whole house and discussed the roadblocks to being
organized. He then began with helping me clear out my catch-all
kitchen counter and come up with a process for handling incoming
mail/schoolwork/projects etc. so things do not pile up. When that
was finished, we started on a basement room that needed major
cleanout and reordering to make it a functional project room for the
kids and me. Brenden is extremely professional and personable. He is
effective at helping organize without sounding critical or bossy-he
truly is there to help. He looks at the big picture to help his
clients see the way they could utilize space and order things for
easier function. He has also helped me reduce and recycle my old
things: I donated a used big screen TV to a daycare and he was able
to haul away and recycle my old computers and broken exercise
equipment. Lastly, he is a huge resource of connecting people and
services wherever needed-he will make a recommendation or have an
idea to economize for just about everything!

Brenden performed a whole house walk through
providing suggestions of how each room could be organized, what
stuff to keep, sell or donate. We then selected one room to
completely clean out and organize. About 2 hours were spent in this
room. Clutter was removed and storage cases were moved in. This room
is now ready to be used. Although we disagreed with some of his
suggestions about what to do with certain items throughout the house
and how the house should be arranged, overall his suggestions were
very good. He jumped in working to clean out the selected room
rather than standby and give directions. His primary focus is to
remove clutter by either donating, selling, give to someone or as a
last option, keep it and find a place for it.

I hired Brenden as a Christmas present to my
husband to organize our basement and remove many items which just
needed to be given away or thrown out. Brenden quoted my job as a
set price for about 4 to 6 hours of work by him and one other
person. He brought one helper, Bill, and my husband and I both
participated in the job as well to make decisions about items. What
to keep, throw out and give away. We also made decisions on where
things should go for their final resting place if we kept them.
Brenden did a great job of getting everything out of the house for
us, which was a huge relief. We were left with some re-organizing to
do in our kitchen but we were so worn out that day from the huge
effort on the basement project that when he asked if we wanted his
help on that we just couldn't put any more energy into it. He
offered us one more hour to use at another time on a different
project, which we'll definitely take him up on after our baby
arrives. I am sure he had at least an hour's worth of traveling to
do to get rid of all the stuff we pulled out of the basement. So in
all, it's fair.

I purchased my first home, a 2BR/2BA condo on the
East Side in July 2008. As of March 2009, I was only halfway
unpacked. My dream home was becoming a nightmare and a source of
constant stress and anxiety. The thought of tackling this job in my
few spare hours each weekend was overwhelming me - to the point of
paralysis. That's when I turned to Angie's List and found Action
Organizing Services LLC® and Brenden McDaniel. Brenden helped me finish
unpacking and find, assemble, and arrange new furniture that would
suit my storage needs. I was so embarrassed by the state of my home
when Brenden came for the first consultation. He quickly made me
feel at ease and assured me this was a very do-able job. We began in
small chunks tackling one room at a time. Before we started, I was
afraid that Brenden would expect me to purge many of my belongings.
I needn't have worried. In fact at times, he even encouraged me to
keep items I was considering getting rid of! We sorted through box
by box, a few hours each week, finding a home for what I was keeping
and taking away what I was donating to charity. Brenden hauled away
everything I was getting rid of and brought it to Goodwill or other
organizations in need of donations. He even brought one of my
favorite pairs of shoes to the shoe repair to be re-heeled. The
changes in my place from week to week were amazing. As we worked, it
became apparent that the amalgamation of mismatched furniture I had
accrued over the years wasn't quite right for my new space. So I
decided it was time for some new, "grown up" furniture. Brenden and
I took two trips to IKEA in Chicago and filled his truck with
purchases (both times!). He and his associate Bill assembled
everything. Although it dramatically increased the scope of the
project, I am so glad we did it. Over the two and-a-half months we
worked together, Brenden and I did have a few disagreements. He was
patient with me, as I had to take time to consider some of his
suggestions. More often than not, I came around to his way of
thinking. And, as I begrudgingly admit, he was right. His
recommendations on furniture placement were spot on and things I
would never have thought of myself (I guess that's why you hire a
professional). There are still one or two things I'm being stubborn
about - which became a source of a running joke between us. Without
Brenden's help, I would still be knee-deep in unpacked boxes. Now,
I'm putting the final decorating touches on my place and preparing
to entertain my first guests - the first of many more to come! Thank
you Brenden, I love my new home and I never could have gotten here
without you.

I made an initial appointment with Brenden for him
to visit my house and get an idea of the areas I wanted to organize.
He was very responsive on email and over the phone and easy to
schedule. Shortly after the initial consult, Brenden, along with two
of his co-workers, came to my house on a Sunday to do a "clean out"
of my cluttered basement and attic. After a long day of very tiring,
dusty work, they managed to completely transform these spaces. I
helped by sorting my stuff into keep/donate/trash piles, but without
them I would never have had the courage to tackle this project. What
is truly remarkable about Action Organizing is how sensitive and
attuned they are to the needs and limits of their clients. They
completely understand that organization does not come easily to many
of us, and that we often have psychological barriers that keep us
from getting rid of things we don't need. Their positive attitude
kept my spirits up as I sifted through years of accumulated stuff.
Their services are not inexpensive, but you absolutely get what you
pay for. Brenden and his team are amazing. They are extremely smart,
energetic, and hard working. I would hire them again in an instant
and highly recommend them.

On the
initial contact, both Brenden and Bill were courteous, prompt and
professional. They came
to my apartment and looked through the entire place with me,
offering suggestions and solutions.
During the first organizing visit, Bill drove to the Good
Will with me and brought home two large bookcases that I had
purchased. Getting them
into the Action Organizing truck on a freezing winter day was no
small task, as well as carrying them up the curving stairs to my
second floor. Bill then
tackled the worst room in my place - the combination computer,
sewing, office, cat litter box (four), and general trash heap room.
By the time he left, I could walk through the room to my
computer with ease, and the closet was filled with neat boxes of my
stuff. During the second
visit, we continued to work on this room.
Bill fixed my two-drawer filing cabinet that had been
unusable for years. He
also took the metal cross bars from under my sewing table, and
placed two plastic file drawer units (one under each end), so that
there was much more storage space under the large table.
I plan to replace the plastic units with metal filing
cabinets as soon as I can find second-hand ones.
On the third visit, we worked in the living room.
Bill carried all of my books, which were stacked on the
kitchen floor, and filled the two large bookcases that I had
purchased previously. He
then tackled the mess in my bedroom. He found books that I had
missed for a long time, and nutritional supplements that I thought I
was out of and couldn't afford to replace.
I found both Brenden and Bill to be caring, sensitive,
patient and willing to listen.
They are educated and trained to deal with people's mental
and physical disabilities and do so in a compassionate and effective
way. My family is
thrilled with the improvements in my living space.
Even though I am on a limited income, it was well worth the
investment to have Action Organizing Services LLC® come
to my home. My quality
of life has definitely changed for the better.
I have a long way to go, but they have started me on the
journey to a clean, organized and relaxing living space.
